Biography
I got my PhD on Physics at the University of Sofia (Bulgaria) in 2005. At the time I was investigating semileptonic Kaon decays with data from NA48 (experiment at CERN) and was just starting development work on muon reconstruction in CMS. I was an assistant professor in this university for a couple of years but then I spent 9 years as a CMS postdoc at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) where I went in 2006. I was involved in muon reconstruction, Drell-Yan analyses, rare Higgs boson decay analyses, luminosity measurements among other things. Since 2015 I moved to Fermilab but mostly working on magnets development (HL-LHC magnets among them) in the Technical Division. I retained small fraction of my time for CMS related studies. My current interests are in R&D on superconducting accelerator magnets and related instrumentation, along with rare decays (anomaly searches) in CMS data based on muons or track signatures. I try to bring techniques from one of the worlds (HEP physics) to the other (magnet development) and vice versa. I find plenty of synergy and benefits for the fields in doing so.
